Oolong #02 in a heated up gaiwan opens up with the aroma of ice wine, honeyed fruits, stewed plums and woody undertones as from a good oak wine burrel.
In the cup we find very smooth velvety texture, flavours of elderflower syrup, linden honey, dessert wine, long sweet finish and even more. Emty gong dao bei will reveal ice wine and raw almonds.
A simmilar product often can be found labeled as Bai Hao Wulong or White Tip Oolong sometime as Champagne Oolong or more known name Oriental Beauty. It is usually a heavily oxidized, non-roasted, tip-type oolong which is one of the most distinctive teas in Taiwan. Unlike other oolongs which typically make use of the top four or five leaves and the single bud, Bai Hao Wulong uses only the bud and two leaves. The longer withering period accelerates the hydrolysis and oxidation processes which help generate the typical fruity aromas and produces a sweet-tasting liquor, without any bitternessis but it can be even more enhanced if the leaf is attacked by the Green Leaf Hopper before picking. To encourage the Green Leaf Hopper to feed on the leaves, stems, and buds all tea trees are grown without insecticides and harvested in the middle of summer.
